Jim Untiedt brings both in-depth professional knowledge – and an unwavering commitment to personal service – to his role as President of Allied North America of California.
Since founding the office in 1998, Jim’s hands-on management style, eye for the innovative and ability to build a team of professionals who share his personal service philosophy, has enabled this office to thrive and expand to provide a full range of quality insurance and surety solutions to its growing base of construction industry clients.

Developed innovative pollution and liability insurance programs and designed risk management programs to mitigate construction risk. |

Leveraged his extensive expertise in initiating and managing complicated, comprehensive wrap-up programs to create the first West coast office of Project Technologies International, Allied’s division that focuses solely on such insurance coverage. |

Initiated leading-edge, client-driven services, including a safety roundtable where contractors can meet and share information, and is instrumental in the development of a state-of-art, network-wide insurance management system. |
A leader in several industry organizations including the Construction Finance Management Association (CFMA) and the Engineering Utility Contractors Association (EUCA), Jim has published several articles on construction insurance and risk management and is a frequent lecturer on such topics.
For the seven years prior to founding Allied’s California operation, he was Senior Vice President in charge of construction at ABD Insurance. He previously worked at DSI Insurance Services and Travelers Insurance Company as an underwriter. Jim holds professional accreditations as both a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), as well as Bachelor’s of Arts degree from University of California–Berkeley.
